Vauxhall recently released images of its new Insignia Sports Tourer, which has an overall increase in length but 200kg lighter compared with the outgoing model. The Sports Tourer estate will make its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
The 2017 Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer is completely based on new vehicle architecture. Vauxhall's new vehicle is 73mm longer compared with the older model with a wheelbase that has increased by 92mm. It has shaved off 200 kg thanks to the use of lightweight materials and efficient packaging, resulting in an engine range that reportedly offers better performance with greater efficiency.

Also, the vehicle's weight loss paved the way for high-tech features to be included. Among these features are an ultra-modern all-wheel-drive system with torque vectoring and new eight-speed automatic transmission to exploit their strengths to the full.
According to AutoExpress UK, consumers will have the option to choose from either four-wheel drive with an eight-speed automatic transmission or front-wheel drive and a six-speed manual gearbox. The former option comes with torque vectoring in order to boost the vehicle's agility and traction. Also added as options are adaptive dampers.
Meanwhile, the 2017 Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer's interior has a considerable room all thanks to the increase in wheelbase. The 40/20/40 foldable seats are available with only a push of a button. Of course, the luggage capacity has further increased too. If seats are folded down, this would reach up to 1,683 liters, 100 liters more compared with the outgoing model.

The 2017 Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer features the latest IntelliLink system infotainment system from Vauxhall. This has also Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Plus, the vehicle also comes with a new "personal assistant" service that allows drivers and passengers to book a hotel via OnStar, reports Auto Car UK. Wireless charging and Wi-Fi hotspot are also added features.
Further, the 2017 Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer is also equipped with heated rear and front seats, heated windscreen, LED matrix lighting, head-up display, and lane keep assist. The company also noted that this will be the first model to feature an active aluminum bonnet for improved pedestrian protection.
Although official details of the Sports Tourer's engine has not yet been released by Vauxhall, it could sport that same mix of 1.5- and 2.0-liter turbo petrols and 1.6 and 2.0-liter diesels as those in the hatch.
The 2017 Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer pricing will perhaps be announced once the vehicle has made its debut during the Geneva Motor Show. The new vehicle would likely hit retailers this summer and could probably hit starting prices of around $25314.58 or £20,299.
