Kindle Fire HD Tablet Offered For $50 Off To College Students, 8.9-Inch Device Just $250

Amazon has announced this week that they will be selling their Kindle Fire tablet to students with an email address that ends with ".edu" for $50 cheaper than the original asking price.

The 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD comes with a 1,920-by-1,200-pixel resolution HD, a front-facing HD camera and a Micro-HDMI port according to Amazon. The device also features dual speakers.

The deal will be available for college students the entire month of January, giving them just enough time to get one before the spring semester begins.

The Seattle-based online store started the month-long sale on New Year's Day, and will sell the 8.9-inch HD tablet for approximately $250. The offer is only available to those who also have an Amazon Prime account according to a report by The Los Angeles Times, which costs $39 for full year.

Users also have the option of activating a free six-month trial period and if you don't want to continue your Amazon Prime account, simply cancel it before the trial period is up. Make sure to use your email that includes ".edu" for the Prime account as well to qualify for the deal.

The decreased price is around the same as the base price for the 7-inch, 32GB Fire HD model according to Amazon.

Amazon sells the Kindle Fire HD 8.9-inch tablet in four different options: The 4G LTE comes in either 32GB or 64GB, mean while the WiFi-only device comes in 16GB and 32GB, according to Amazon, respectively.

After applying the $50 discount, the 16GB Wi-Fi-only option is $249, meanwhile the 32GB version is $319. The 32GB 4G LTE is $449 with the discount, where as the 64Gb option is now $549.
