The 2018 Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid is the newest addition to the German car manufacturer's luxury sedan line. It is not only fuel efficient but a fun drive as well just like all other of Porsche's vehicles.
The 2018 Panamera 4 E-Hybrid. The new Panamera is a plug-in hybrid. Under its hood is a powertrain that consists of a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with 326 horsepower and an electric motor that can churn out 134 horsepower.
In total, system output is 462 horsepower with 516 pound-foot torque. The torque is channeled to all four wheels via the ZF-sourced eight-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. The transmission is based off the gearbox found in traditionally powered Panamera models.
The German car manufacturer claims that the vehicle is able to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 4.4 seconds. The new Panamera is actually slower than the Panamera 4S and Panamera 4S diesel even if both are relatively less powerful. The electric motor helps the vehicle reach its top speed of 173 miles per hour so as long as it is in Sport Plus mode.
The new Panamera can go up to 31 miles on just electricity alone with its 14.1-kWh battery pack. It can go up to 87 miles per hour without the gasoline engine's help although driving at this speed will quickly deplete the battery. When the battery's power does get used up, the vehicle automatically switches to the hybrid mode which produces a combination of the gasoline engine and electric motor for maximum efficiency.
The 2018 Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid is set to go on sale in the United States in the summer of this year. It will be priced at US$99,600.00, US$10,000 more expensive than the all-wheel drive V6 engine Panamera 4. However, it is 0.6 seconds quick when going from 0 to 60 miles per hour and 10 miles per hour faster than the Panamera 4.
