Ford revealed this week that their 2013 Ford Fusion was certified at up to 108 MPGe recently by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, making the Fusion the most fuel-efficient sedan on the market today.
The Fusion also won Green Car of the Year recently by Green Car Journal at the Los Angeles Auto Show according to a press release issued by Ford.

"The Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid is the exclamation point for Ford's transformed lineup of fuel-efficiency leaders that now beats Toyota across the board," said Raj Nair, group vice president, Global Product Development in the press release.
The new Fusion Energi is Ford's fifth electric vehicle to be introduced in the last year and it is expected to increase the company's earnings to heights they've never reached before. The EPA also recently certified the Fusion Energi to deliver 92 MPGe on the highway for a combined 100 MPGe which could save drivers up to $6,850 in fuel costs.
The company also introduced new technological features for the Fusion to help it compete with its closest rival, the Toyota Prius. Some of the new specs included on the vehicle are the SmartGuide with EcoGuide which provides in-vehicle customizable displays like fuel economy readings.
Other new technologies introduced include Eco cruise which saves vehicle energy by relaxing acceleration compared to standard cruise control, and an EV mode button which allows a driver to switch vehicle operation between three different modes. All vehicles come with newly reconstructed hybrid transmissions and advanced lithium-ion batteries as well.
Advanced technology has helped Ford compete with other companies in 2012, and is one of the reasons the C-Max became the fastest-selling hybrid ever. The company sold 8,030 vehicles in October and November, thus beating out Toyota's Camry Hybrid for the sales record for cars sold in its first two months. The Camry sold 7,300 vehicles in mid-2006.
"The response to C-MAX really shows the amount of pent-up demand from a specific market for C-segment hybrids," says C.J. O'Donnell, marketing manager, Ford Electrified Vehicles in the press release. "Fusion Energi has a different audience in the midsize sedan market, but delivers many of the characteristics and technologies that make C-MAX Energi so great, which is why we're anticipating a similar positive response."
