Galaxy Note 10.1 Banned?

LG will reportedly try to get the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet banned after asking a Seoul court to consider the matter due to patent infringements. The action filed accuses Samsung of stealing at least three patents on LCD panels used in the Note tablet according to Financial Express.

"Through this action, LG Display seeks to completely stop the sale, manufacture and importation of the infringing Samsung product," LG Display representative said in a press release this week. "LG Display also said it would request compensation amounting to 1.0 billion won ($933,000) per day in the event of continued non-compliance.

Both companies have been going back and forth since September when LG Display filed a suit against Samsung for using patents on seven OLED-related products. Later that month, Samsung filed a complaint against LG saying the company "lured away" a senior Samsung OLED researcher even though both companies had signed contracts preventing workers from leaving to work with a rival company.

Samsung is also still involved in disputes with Apple, most recently having to pay $1.05 billion in damages for stealing iPad and iPhone features for their Galaxy phones.
