"Our agreement with General Motors is an important step in supporting Saab owners in North America and ensuring they have access to Saab Genuine Parts, service programs and technical support for years to come," Tim Colbeck, CEO of Saab Automobile Parts North America, said in the press release.
According to the agreement, SPNA will offer warranty administration and related services for all Saab vehicles released in 2009 and earlier that are still covered under GM's warranty agreement. Saab has said they will honor services through its network warranty service providers according to the press release.
Anyone who is covered under the agreement can now take their Saab cars to any SPNA warranty service providers to have work completed on their car. There are approximately 179 different service locations according to Saab.
"This should be seamless to the customer. It's important because we want to honor our commitments to our customers," said GM spokeswoman Pamela Flores.
Both GM and Saab also agreed to make the North American Customer Assistance Center and a Technical Assistance Center to help aid warranty service providers.
In December, the Swedish National Debt Office announced they now control Saab Automobile Parts AB. In doing so the national debt office is now the largest creditor of Saab since the automaker filed for bankruptcy back in 2011 according to Automotive News.
"[Saab Automobile] Parts is an independent and solid company that currently provides Swedish spare parts for Saab passenger cars," Bo Lundgren, chief of the National Debt Office said in a press statement. "The Swedish government will be a stable owner aiming to develop the company further."
