Audi's strong sales position continues to reign in the U.S. market. This is likely due to its popular range of SUVs. Filip Brabec, vice president of product management for Audi of America talked about their strategies on SUVs and also revealed the concept for the upcoming Q8, which aims to stand out above the rest.
Filip Brabec confirms Audi's reign in the luxury business. According to the vice president, the trend for SUV turned out to be "huge." He also detailed that 53 percent of the sales figures came from SUV sales.
Audi capitalized on this huge trend. The VP mentioned that the Q7 they have released last year has surpassed their projections. The sales report reflects 30,000 units of Q7 were sold last year. To further capitalize on the trend, Audi offered the new four-cylinder model.
Furthermore, Filip Brabec specified that despite the introduction of the new version of Q5, the old model still sold 6,000 units in December last year. The VP predicts the new version, which offers better technology and fuel efficiency, has a huge potential to expand sales as well.
In the same interview with Forbes, Filip Brabec also revealed their plan to launch a redesigned Q3 in the near future. The VP notes that the brand is gaining favorable sales as well.
Meanwhile, Filip Brabec also discussed the concepts of the upcoming Q8. According to the VP, the upcoming Q8 will have the same size with Q7, in terms of length and width.

On the inside, the new Q8 is designed to be more luxurious. Although the wheelbase will also be similar on Q7, it is designed to be a five-seater. It will feature new architectural interiors found in the latest Audi A8, A7, A6 and other brands.
The VP also teased that they will be featuring two new technology advancements that they are eyeing for the concept car. Audi is considering a handle-less door via a touch door opening system and the augmented head-up display.
On the outside, the new Q8 looks sportier with 22-inch wheels. Filip Brabec describes it to be "more coupe-like, more emotional flagship."
