The latest smartphone from Xiaomi, the Redmi Note 4, went on sale on the e-commerce website Flipkart on January 30, 2017. Within just a few minutes, the smartphone from the Chinese tech company was sold out.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. The smartphone from the Chinese phone manufacturer was launched earlier this year but just recently went sale on the e-commerce website Flipkart. Before the sale began, Flipkart had reportedly received around 1 million 'notify me' requests already.
In just around two minutes, the e-commerce website had already sold 200,000 Redmi 4 smartphones. After a few more minutes, the website officially declared the smartphone sold out.
"Over the last few years, we have seen an increasing demand for affordable, premium-grade smartphones drawing interest among consumers," said Flipkart executive Ajay Yadav. He further added that the e-commerce website will continue to pursue innovation in order to maintain and strengthen relations with global smartphone brands.
The features of the Redmi Note 4 include a 5.5-inch full-HD display with 2.5D curved glass and a density of 401ppi pixels. The display sports a resolution of 1080 by 1920 pixels. Other features include a hybrid SIM slot which can be used for a secondary SIM card or a microSD memory card, a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 lens and a 5-megapixel front camera which can take wide angle shots of up to 85 degrees. The smartphone supports GPRS/EDGE, 3G, 4G with VoLTE, GPS, GLONASS, and Bluetooth connectivity.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 comes in two variants that differ in terms of internal storage capacity and memory. The base model comes with 2 gigabytes of RAM and 16 gigabytes of internal storage while the premium variant has 3 gigabytes of RAM and 64 gigabytes of internal storage.
In India, the smartphone's base model retails at Rs 9,999 which is around US$148.00. The premium model, on the other hand, retails at Rs 12,999 or approximately US$192.00.
