However, an announcement this week from the South Korean tech giant revealed that the handset will not be present at the MWC.

Samsung's decision to delay the S8 was due to its efforts to enhance product safety following an investigation into the Note 7 battery issue. Samsung wrapped up its month-long probe, which revealed faulty batteries from two suppliers as the main culprit of the product failure.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 explosion was the biggest story in the smartphone industry in 2016. More than one million units were recalled in the U.S. due to the battery cell issue. Samsung Electronics sent replacement phones, which also had battery issues. Samsung decided to end production of the phones and initiated an investigation.
Koh Dong-jin, president of mobile at Samsung, relayed to Reuters why the Galaxy S8 is not yet ready to launch at MWC. According to him, the move aims to improve product safety following the release of the results of an investigation into the Note 7 battery cell problem.
According to Dong-jin, the Note 7 issue provided them lessons that changed the company's culture and process. He highlighted Samsung Electronics' goal to regain consumer trust.
No details are available yet on the Galaxy S8's official launch schedule. Many surmised that Samsung will hold a private party in New York City in March where the handset will be revealed. The phone is speculated to have features such as edge-to-edge infinity display, a dual-lens camera, and two size options.
