Wii U Comes To an End; Nintendo Wraps Up The Console

The Wii U games console had first made an appearance in 2012. It has reached the fag end of its life after Nintendo signaled the same. "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" will be the last game for the device as stated by Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo America. "We really are at the end of life for Wii U," he said. Nintendo had indicated much earlier that the company will put an end to the production of Wii U hardware.

However, Mr. Fils Aime stated that the company will continue to provide services to the Wii U players online. While the company might put an end to the release of the software, there might be third party releases.

The original Wii U device caught up like wildfire among the gamers as it has a motion controlled device that is very handy. It was Nintendo's best selling home console. The company banked on the name and decided to market the next console exactly like Wii. However, the name Wii U was confusing as it seemed like an enhanced version of Wii. Also, Nintendo was accused of sending out confusing messages about the touch screen controller, Wii U, reported BBC.

"Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" was announced way back in 2013. However, the release of the game faced multiple delays. Meanwhile, after the smashing success of the original Wii device, Wii U failed to catch up. Nintendo decided to wrap the device up and release the Nintendo Switch console in March in its place. The "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" will now be released on the Wii U and Nintendo Switch simultaneously.

Wii U displayed maps and inventory in some games. However, it was not supported in all third party games. Wii U can be used even when there is no television set. But it is possible only if one is at home and near the console. Also, the game should support it too, reported Tech Crunch.

Nintendo's Wii U had failed. Now the company has to gear up and have to really convince the customers that it is capable of making good consoles with its Switch
