When buying a new car from Ford, customers need not go to the dealer's store because they can transact the purchase online. This is made possible by Ford Credit and Autofi, a financial technology firm that provides sales and financial transactions online.
Auto Week reports that the online services provided by the company are fast and efficient, able to finish sales transactions in record times of less than 2 hours. After transacting online, the customer simply proceeds to the Ford dealer, meets the dealer's representative, signs the papers and takes delivery of the car he purchased online.
The dealer can even offer to deliver to the customer the car he purchased and complete the transaction at home. "What makes this so exciting is we know how important and exciting purchasing an automobile can be for a customer, but we know there are a lot of pain points in the process," said Ford Credit's director of mobility, Lee Jelenic. "By combining our fast and efficient credit-decision process with AutoFi's online capability, we are making the customer experience faster, smoother and simpler."
One of the difficult points to tackle is the financing arrangement that comes with the purchase and the company launched the new scheme with Autofi last December at Ricart Ford, a dealer in Groveport, Ohio. One of the customers that tried the new purchasing system online finished the transaction in just seven minutes before going through the motions of signing the ready papers.
The online purchasing system has made buying Ford cars fairly easy. Another customer logged into the system at 4:30 P.M. and finished the transaction that included financing requirements in just 30 minutes. At 6:22 P.M., the customer went to the car dealer and drove away with a brand new Ford Explorer.
The Sales and Marketing Vice-President of Ricard Ford, Rick Ricart is thrilled to become the first dealership to try Ford's new scheme. Ford Credit and AutoFi have really made it possible for customers to purchase Ford vehicles online.
