The Nintendo Mini NES Classic has been an elusive console since its release. Amazon even named it one of the "Most Wished For Item" for the holiday season of 2016. Nintendo has finally spoken about the lack of stocks and assured fans more are underway.
According to report from GameStop, the president of Nintendo America Reggie Fils-Aime reassured fans that there will be more stocks for both the Nintendo Mini NES Classic and the Nintendo Switch. In the discussion regarding the NES Classic shortage, Fils-Aime said,
"When we look at that proposition, what we believed was the adults, 30-40 years old, who grew up playing NES as a kid, 10 years old or so but had stepped away from the gaming category - that was going to be the buyer. As we thought about that, that led us to a certain level of supply."
On a lighter note, it was a good news when Fils-Aime mentioned that Nintendo has made steps to resolve this issue. He said the shortages have been "largely addressed."
Thankfully, Fils-Aime did also add that Nintendo has made steps to resolve the issue, saying that the shortages have been "largely addressed." When asked whether or not the upcoming Nintendo Switch would have the same problem as the NES, Fils-Aime answered,
"We're working to make sure that the supply chain [for Switch] is robust and there is a steady flow of hardware," he said. "The one piece we can't anticipate is the demand side of the equation but certainly from a supply, we feel like we're going to be well-positioned."
Fils-Aime revealed that Nintendo has over 2 million units prepared for the launch of the Nintendo Switch - another much-anticipated console from the company. The president of Nintendo America also assured buyers that unlike the Nintendo Mini NES Classic, the Switch will have a large amount of hardware available
