Like most companies, Nissan is taking part in the annual Black Friday madness but not in the way you'd expect.
The company announced in a press release today that they will be lending a helpful hand to those brave enough to deal with dangerous crowds and weather conditions this Friday by providing vehicles at multiple locations around the nation for customers to warm up in while waiting for stores to open up.
The company will have brand-new 2013 Nissan Altima sedans and Nissan Quest minivans at selected locations to provide customers some warmth as they wait in long lines for the chance at discounted items.
While the shopper warms up in the vehicle with hand warmers, hot drinks, and blankets, a Nissan representative worker will save that person's spot in line to insure they will still be able to get the items they came to look for.
"Both the Altima and Quest are equipped with segment-leading innovations, heated seats and plenty of cargo room - making them the perfect match to assist fatigued shoppers," said Jon Brancheau, vice president, marketing for Nissan North America. "Improving the shopping experience for Denver consumers on Black Friday is a great opportunity to expose people to Nissan's innovative products first-hand."
Over 53 percent of Americans go out on Black Friday to take advantage of sales and discounted items that they usually purchase and save for holidays like Christmas and Hanukkah. The press release reports that the estimate is actually lower than it was last year however, and has been on a consistent decline the past three years.
Accenture's 2012 US Holiday Shopping Guide reports similar results, blaming online shopping for the decline in Black Friday attendance. The Guide does report however that they expect the 2012 holiday shopping season to be the biggest in almost five years.
