The new Shelby Mustang will not be the only novelty American car in store for auto fans in the coming days. This same weekend and in the same event of the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, Shelby and Superformance have allied with Baume & Mercie to present the new Shelby Cobra Sebring Limited Edition.
In total, there will be 4 new Shelby Cobra limited editions. Each will be commemorating the victories of the brand in competition, including those obtained in the Sebring circuit. These are exact replicas of the vehicles driven by Ken Miles, Dan Gurney, Allen Grant and Dave MacDonald between 1963 and 1964 as reported by Motor1.
There will only be 15 copies manufactured in total, of which, only two will have the aluminum body like the originals. The other 13 will have bodies made out of fiberglass. These are not delivered in car-kit format, but as complete, finished and turnkey projects thanks to the new law that allows manufacturing small series of vehicles in the United States; according to AutoEvolution.
The vehicles will have a frame number coding Shelby, CSX, and they all have the same mechanical specifications, a V8 engine that can output 431hp and will drive the rear wheels through a manual gearbox. The price of each of these copies for the moment has not been revealed, but taking into account where they are going to be presented, the price may be revealed this weekend.
The Shelby Cobra Sebring Limited Edition comes in 4 different finishes. First on is in red which is the allusive model used by Ken Miles with the number 16. Second one will be the copy in black with yellow stripes and number 15 which corresponds to that of Dan Gurney. Third, is in black with the number 198 which corresponds to that of Dave MacDonald. Finally, the yellow belongs to that employed by Allen Grant with black lines and the number 96.
The project was conducted in collaboration with the watchmaker Baume & Mercier so that each of the 15 customers will receive with their Shelby Cobra Sebring Limited Edition a commemorative watch with the respective frame number of their Cobra CSX.
