Microsoft announced today that Steven Sinofsky, president of Windows and Windows Live will be leaving the company.
"It is impossible to count the blessings I have received over my years at Microsoft. I am humbled by the professionalism and generosity of everyone I have had the good fortunye to work with at this awesome company," Sinofsky said in the company press release.
No word has been released on why Sinofsky is no longer apart of the company or whether he was released or quit.

"I am grateful for the many years of work that Steven has contributed to the company," CEO Steve Ballmer said in the press release. "The products and services we have delivered to market in the past few months mark the launch of a new era at Microsoft."
The news of Sinofsky leaving comes only a couple weeks after the software company debuted the newest program Windows 8.
The company has promoted Windows veteran Julie Larson-Green to lead both Windows and Windows Live software and hardware engineering. Larson-Green has previous business experience in Internet Explorer, and Office as well.
"We've built an incredible foundation with new releases of Microsoft Office, Windows Phone 8, Microsoft Surface, Windows Server 2012 and 'Halo 4', and great integration of services such as Bing, Skype, and Xbox across all our products. To continue this success it is imperative that we continue to drive alignment across all Microsoft teams, and have more integrated and rapid development cycles for our offerings."
Tami Reller will be the new head of Windows business responsibilities while continuing to retain her job as chief marketing and chief financial officer.
