FCA announced in the 2017 Detroit Auto Show that it plans to revive the Jeep Grand Wagoneer and New Jeep Wagoneer in response to the rising demand for bigger utility vehicles. These two creations of Fiat and Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) first came out in 1991. As a preparation for the production of these vehicles, FCA is renovating the Warren Truck Assembly plant just outside of Detroit. In this plant, the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer will be resurrected.
The two vehicles are slated to arrive in 2019, and they will not be using the frame of the Grand Cherokee, as what has been expected. Instead, they will be built on frames following that of the next generation Ram Pick Up. Just like their predecessors, customers can look forward to having luxury SUVs that have panels of wood-grain like the original versions, according to Digital Trends.
The New Jeep Wagoneer and the Jeep Grand Wagoneer will be built with a longer wheel-base and might have a three-row seat. The front will feature a chrome grille with seven slats similar to that of the Grand Cherokee. The headlights have a unique LED dot pattern that can also be found in the tail lights and two large exhaust outlets, according to Car and Driver.
When it comes to powertrain, the gas and diesel V6 engine is considered as the most appropriate choice. Another choice will be the Hemi V8. A hybrid version will also be most likely. The Jeep Grand Wagoneer and New Jeep Wagoneer will also have fuel economy features. In terms of price, it is estimated to be around $140,000 in the US, according to Car Scoops.
With the Jeep Grand Wagoneer and New Jeep Wagoneer on the works, the Mercedes Benz and Range Rover will have stronger competitors. With its grandiose appearance, there is no denying that this vehicle will be upscale and will belong to high-end vehicles.
