Nokia revealed this week that the Lumia 920 would finally be released today with a starting price of just $99.99. With solid early reviews for the phone and a price lower than its main competitor, the company has plenty to be excited about.
Using the Nokia phone, users will have a top speed of 4G LTW, an advanced 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and Internet Explorer. With full SkyDrive integration and backup, features like your photos, music, and videos can sync to other devices.
The phone comes with a 4.5 HD screen with glass that is supposedly scratch proof. Something the phone offers that some others don't is sunlight readability enhancements which allows users to read and surf the web no matter how bright the sun is outside.
The 2000 mAh battery and power-efficient LCD display with brightness mode establishes the phone as one of the "most efficient phones" ever produced according to Nokia. The company also seems satisfied with the camera option the phone provides. The 920 comes equipped with a 8.7 megapixel LED flash PureView camera that includes wide-angle optics.
So here's the real question: how does the phone stack up with its biggest competitors the iPhone 5 and the Galaxy S3? Here are the main factors you'll want to consider before making a decision.
Size:
The iPhone 5 is lighter at 114.0g compared to the Lumia which is 185g and the S3 is 133.0g. The iPhone is also thinner at 7.6mm and smaller at 123.8 compared to Nokia which is 130 mm and the S3 which is 136.6mm.
Storage:
The iPhone can also hold more with 64 GB of internal memory compared to 32 GB for the S3 and the Lumia. This is over 32 GB more of internal storage for the Apple product.
Apps:
The iPhone as over 425,000 different aps available to users compared to 150,000 available to those who purchase the Nokia.
Battery Power/ Charging Options:
The biggest different between the two phones is that the Lumia can hold over 42 % longer battery charge compared to the iPhone.
iPhone's can last around 10 hours without being charged, the Lumia can hold a charge of around 14 hours. The Galaxy S3 can hold a charge of over 12 hours.
A major perk if you purchase the Lumia is that to charge the phone you don't need to plug the device in like you do with the iPhone and S3.
Upload Speed:
The Lumia is significantly faster than the iPhone when it comes to uploading as it can upload in 50 MPits per second. It takes the iPhone 5.76 MBits per second to upload to the device, and it takes 3.0MBites per second for the S3.
Price:
As mentioned the Lumia will be sold for around $100, and along with the S3, which is sold at the same price, both are cheaper options compared to the iPhone. The iPhone 5 is currently priced at $199.
