Gaga's donation was made in behalf of her parents Joe and Cynthia Germanotta and her sister Natali as well.
Over the weekend the Red Cross raised nearly $85 million in donations, doubling the $35 million it had raised during the week of Hurricane Sandy. The increase in donations could be attributed to the benefit concert held by NBC on Friday.
The Red Cross announced over the weekend they raised over $23 million from the hour-long "Hurricane Sandy" Coming Together" concert which featured acts like Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, Christina Aguilera, Jon Stewart and Jimmy Fallon.
A great deal of companies have donated over $1 million to the Red Cross as well like JPMorgan Chase, Walt Disney, Kohl's, and Morgan Stanley according to CNN Money.
Many car companies have also reached out to the Red Cross to see what they could do such as Chevrolet and Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes announced last week that they were donating $1 million to the relief effort and expressed that they would do whatever was needed to help assist victims in the east coast. .
Chevy meanwhile donated over 50 cargo vans, Tahoe SUVs and Traverse crossovers to the American Red Cross last week to aid those suffering due to the deadly Hurricane Sandy. They also donated $250,000 to the Red Cross Disaster Responder Program.
Those who wish to donate or to hurricane victims can do so by calling 1-800-733-2767 or by clicking here to visit the Red Cross website.
