Obama will still have a hard time trying to accomplish the things he has promised for four years now as the nation also elected a divided House of Congress with republicans holding a majority of the seats. 224 seats were won for the Republican Party compared to 171 for Democrats. The Senate still belongs to the Democratic Party however as 52 members were voted in compared to 44 Republicans according to the Associated Press.
Obama won the election in 2008 mainly with promises of change after eight years of disaster with former President George Bush at the helm. This time however, the nation's first African-American president decided to mainly bring up his accomplishments and reassert his goals from four years ago that the House hasn't allowed him to accomplish yet. Obama seems confident that he and the House will be able to reach more of an understanding the next four years compared to his first term as President.
For Mitt Romney, the defeat comes with a heavy heart as the republican candidate was so confident he would win he didn't even prepare a concession speech a head of time just in case.

"At a time like this, we can't risk partisan bickering," Romney said after a campaign filled with it. "Our leaders have to reach across the aisle to do the people's work."
Obama took a commanding lead late Tuesday night and as of this morning he had at least 303 electoral votes compared to 206 gained by the Romney campaign. Over 50 percent of the popular vote with Obama's way as well compared to a close 48 percent for Romney.
The victory will include a short celebration time period however as the President still has many issues to deal with left over from his first term including dealing with the economy. Romney's main selling point during his campaign process was that Obama has had enough time to try fixing the economy and it was time for a new voice and approach to settle the issue.
"Our economy is recovering. A decade of war is ending," said Obama in his speech. "A long campaign is now over, and whether I earned your vote or not, I have listened to you, I have learned from you and you have made me a better president."
Obama stated in his speech that he hopes to meet with Romney to discuss how they can work collectively in the future to make the country greater together.
