One of the main attractions for the annual Los Angeles Auto Show is the award presentation for the Green Car of the Year. On Thursday, NBC announced the five finalists that will be competing for the prestigious award.

The starting price for the Fusion runs between $21,700 and $32,200. Expect to get MPG of 22-24 in the city and 31-37 on the highway. The car comes available in three different engines, 168-hp, 2.5-liter regular gas engine, a 179-hp, 1.6-liter, and a 237-hp, 2.0-liter premium. Two different types of transmissions are also available, including a six-speed manual with OD and a six-speed with automatic with OD and auto-manual according to Ford.
The car is advertised to have a larger interior compared to previous models, offers a more efficient hybrid model as well with new turbocharged engines.
The starting price for the Aero is $20,090 and gets 28MPG in the city and 40-41MPG on the highway. Standard Aero's come equipped with cruise control, projector headlamps, low-rolling-resistant tires and automatic headlights.
The vehicle has a turbocharged 1.4-liter, four-cylinder engine. It is available in six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
The C-Max is priced between $25,200 and $28,200 and gets 47MPG in the city and 27MPG on the highway. It comes with 141-hp, 2.0-liter 1-4 engine and 2-speed CVT w/OD transmission.
Some of the new features the company has provided for 2013 includes five seats in all models, a plug-in Energi model option, and improved technology features compared to the 2012 model.
The Toyota Prius:
Earlier this month Toyota announced that four different Prius models will be released for 2013 and will have an average price of $23,215 to $30,150.
The car will come in with a combined MPG of 50, 15-inch wheels, standard LED lights and improved media and navigation system.
Starting price for the new Mazda is $20,995 to $28,595 and has a 25-26MPG rating in the city and 31-35MPG rating on the highway. It only comes with one available engine option, a 155-hp, 2.0-liter 1-4 engine.
Two six-speed transmissions are offered for the new Mazada, an automatic with OD and a manual with OD. The car replaces the popular Tribute model, has great gas mileage and improved steering and space capability as well.
The award is given out to the vehicle that "best exemplifies leadership in environmental concerns" according to the event website and has been given out at the show the past seven years.
The Honda Civic Natural won the Green Car of the Year award in 2011.
The L.A. Auto Show is scheduled to begin on Nov. 30.
