Microsoft Surface Tablet Released, How The New Tablet Matches Up Against Apple iPad, Google Nexus 7 (VIDEO)

Microsoft is set to finally release their Surface tablet at midnight tonight after much speculation and countless rumors from fans and critics alike.

While the market is certainly not lacking new tablets and other media devices, Microsoft promises that customers won't be disappointed if they decide to choose the Surface over competing devices such as the Apple iPad and Google Nexus.

 

Here is the most up-to-date information on all three devices.

Features:

The new iPad comes with features like 2048 x 1536 Display Resolution, 264 Pixels per inch, and two cameras including a 5-megapizle read facing camera and 1.2-megapixel front facing camera according to the companys site. The device also comes with a lightning connector and mini-touch display with IPS technology as well. It also comes with a dual core A6X with quad-core graphics chip.

The Surface comes with USB capability, built in kickstand, Office 2013, and 720p HD rear-facing and front-facing cameras. The Surface only comes in black so far according to Microsoft. The RT has a 1366x768 HD screen, while the PRO has a 10.6-inch, 1920x1080 Clear type Full HD screen.

Both the Surface and iPad come with 10 hours of battery life.

The Nexus comes with a 4.7-inch HD display screen, 1280 x 786 resolution and pixel density of 320 ppi. The device will run on either Android 4.2 or 4.1.2, something of which will be confirmed next week. It will also sport a 8-megapixel camera with 360-degree panoramic mode and only 8 GB of storage according to Google.

Cost:

The new iPad 4 will cost $499 for the 16GB, $599 for the 32 GB, and $699 for the 64 GB. Meanwhile the new Surface will cost $499 for the 32 GB version, $599 if you want a Touch Cover, and $699 for the 64 GB version with Touch Cover. The Nexus 7 starting price will be between $200 and $245.00 for the 16 GB version.

Size:

The Nexus weighs a little under a pound, is 4.72 inches tall, and 7.8 inches wide. The iPad 4 is 9.7 inch tall, 7.31 inches wide, and weights around one pound. The Surface is 10.6 inches, 6.8 inches wide, and weighs 1.5 pounds.

Release Date:

The Surface will be released at midnight tonight and preorder began last week. The iPad 4 meanwhile is also available for preorder and will be in stores on Nov. 2. It is believed that Google will reveal the new Nexus 7 on Oct. 29 but a preorder page was leaked to the internet.
