Technology has come a long way. These days, smart personal assistants are not only in movies, they have become a real thing.
Online giant Amazon recently released Amazon Echo Dot - a smart speaker which is approximate 3 1/4 " round and 1 1/2 " tall. The device answers to the wake word "Alexa", and responds instantly.
Using the Amazon Echo, or Echo Dot, users can play music, listen to the news, order stuff online, voice control the user's home, request rides from Uber, and find local business. All of these stuff can be done by voice command, without even lifting a finger.
Now, Amazon Echo Dot faces competition as several companies release their very own "smart" speakers. Lenovo recently unveiled the Lenovo Smart Assistant. It was reported that this device works very similar to Echo.
However, it is much taller, and it comes in a different appearance. The Lenovo Smart Assistant has Alexa built in it, too. According to the world's largest PC maker, their Smart Assistant is integrated with Amazon's Alexa Voice Services.
Lenovo and Amazon's smart speakers differ in color schemes. Both differ in the design as well. Amazon Echo has seven far-field microphones while Lenovo's Smart Assistant has eight.
It was also reported that Lenovo is also giving buyers the option to choose a Harman Kardon edition. This edition is more expensive, but it provides a more premium sound.
Internet giant Google also has their very own smart speaker: Google Home. It's powered by Google Assistant which helps users play music, search the internet, set alarms, inform users of the traffic situation and more. This device also helps voice control a user's smart devices.
Olly is another smart speaker. It comes in an adorable donut-shape that also lies flat when dormant. When the speaker is active, it stands and spins around. Olly can make a room feel alive with its flashing lights that match the music.
The best thing that makes Olly unique is it incorporates personality. Users will not feel like they are talking to an AI. Instead, Olly adapts to a user's personality over time. Yes, Olly's behavior will evolve depending on how a user interacts with it.
