Sporty, this is what Mazda is known for. Even for daily drivers, the car manufacturer aims its consumers to have a fun drive. This article will tackle and compare a couple of CX variants for 2017. Here are some comparisons to consider when choosing between CX-3 and CX-5. Both are good cars but have some differences and advantages over the other.
The comparisons are broken down into categories in a hope to help the reader decide well on which CX model to get.
Mazda CX-3 Vs Mazda CX-5: Safety
Both CX-3 and CX-5 both received high scores from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration. The CX-5 would win in this category as it had no red flags from the administration's checking. The Mazda CX-5 reportedly has its interior door panel red flagged for spine injury. Though, it is important to note that both vehicles received very solid reviews compared to other brands.
Mazda CX-3 Vs Mazda CX-5: Interior Space
Another win for the Mazda CX-5 crossover as the vehicle's interior is noticeably bigger. This means that adults would be more comfortable riding this variant as opposed to the smaller CX-3. Seat space is the biggest factor when comparing both models. Cargo also serves as a factor, and obviously, the CX-5 wins with a bigger cargo area.
Mazda CX-3 Vs Mazda CX-5: Dashboard Tech
Both the CX-3 and CX-5 are packed with a nice array of standard features. This includes Bluetooth, one USB port, voice command activation, infotainment systems, remote keyless entry, a rearview camera, and push-button start. When considering the dashboard features, it's definitely a tie.
Mazda CX-3 Vs Mazda CX-5: Fuel Economy
Unfortunately for the Mazda CX-3 subcompact being smaller didn't help when it comes to fuel efficiency. Although it's a bit efficient compared to the CX-5 there's only a difference of around 3 mpg on city driving and just 1 mpg on highways. If numbers would decide, the CX-3 wins but then again there's not much of a difference with its bigger sibling.
Mazda CX-3 Vs Mazda CX-5: Engine
This is definitely the Mazda CX-5's turf as it is offered with more power. The base model has a 2L engine with 155 horse power. Comparing this to the Mazda CX-3's 2 L engine with 146 horsepower, it is pretty obvious that the CX-5 would bag the engine category.
Mazda CX-3 Vs Mazda CX-5: Price
For the budget conscious, the Mazda CX-3 crossover is cheaper as it only costs around $20,000 as base. Level ups are also available. The Mazda CX-5 on the other hand starts at $22,000. Judging on the $2,000 difference for the base models, buyers should consider well on getting the bigger car for just a few thousand dollars' worth of sacrifice.
