Uber took a step forward in electric mobility by placing a number of luxury electric cars in Madrid. As of today, a fleet of Tesla Model S is now available for UberOne in Madrid and will soon expand with other luxury electric vehicles.
UberOne is the new premium electric car service that Uber debuted in Madrid. With UberOne, people can now rent a Tesla Model S with a driver at a very competitive price simply by using the Uber app. Uber launched UberOne to stand up to Cabify Electric, which has long included the BMW i3 in its fleet of vehicles and for a few days made several Tesla electric cars available to customers, too.
Uber wants to further differentiate UberOne with its common service as also a part of the premium service. The customer has a tablet, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 to read the press, check emails or listen to music through a Spotify account on the way, according to LeftLaneNews. As if riding in a Tesla Model S worth around $70,000 to $80,000 is not luxury enough.
The Tesla Model S is a luxury sedan hatchback marketed since 2012. It has the highest rating in terms of security and is a success in terms of sales inside and outside the U.S. Equipped with a battery pack of 85 kWh, it surpasses in autonomy the Tesla Roadster, being able to cover more than 400 kilometers.
Each surface, seam and upholstery of the Tesla Model S balances visual sensation, luxury as well as respect for the environment. The door handles are made of hand-polished zinc, the leather upholstery uses high-quality nappa leather and the decorative moldings are executed to preserve its natural beauty. Truly luxury at its best.
UberOne is primarily intended for companies that are committed to the environment and want to contribute to shuttling passengers using electric cars. But individuals who own a Tesla Model S can also be contracted. At the moment, UberOne only works in Madrid, but the company plans to go through other countries and to extend the range of make and model of the electric cars offered, according to DigitalTrends.
