General Motors Has Finally Started Delivering The Chevrolet Bolt EV To Select Cities: Is Yours One Of Them?

This morning, General Motors made its first delivery of three Chevrolet Bolt EV (electronic vehicle) units in the California cities Fremont, Castro Valley, and Portola Valley. The car is being distributed first to retailers in California and Oregon.

General Motors fulfilled its promise to launch the vehicle before the end of 2016 to begin a new era of more affordable, longer-range, zero-emission electric vehicles. According to Automotive News, the automaker is also committed to making the Bolt available nationwide by mid-2017.

In addition, the Chevrolet Bolt EV will become available in New York, Virginia, Massachusetts, and other parts of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region in the first quarter of 2017. It will then expand to additional "major metro markets" in the first half of the year before achieving EV-certified dealerships across the U.S. around midyear, said GM.

General Motors North America president Alan Batey said in a company press release that, all of the hard work that the Chevrolet team have put into designing, engineering, and building the Bold EV brought them to this truly satisfying moment of making the first deliveries to customers on-time and as planned, when he announced the first three deliveries of the Chevrolet Bolt EV. It boasts 238 miles or EPA-rated range on a single charge and an impressive $37,500 price tag.

"Only Chevrolet is able to offer a vehicle like the Bolt EV," Batey added, "with ground-breaking technology wrapped in a modern design that is also fun-to-drive at an affordable price," according to Fox Business.

Castro Valley's Bobby Edmonds, one of the first owners of  the Chevrolet Bolt EV said, "The range and technology attracted me to the Bolt EV. It's also great-looking, roomy vehicle , and I love the fact it's from an American brand. I look forward to the longer drives I can make compared to the i3 that I owned."

Although GM is living up to its promise by beginning Chevrolet Bolt EV deliveries before the end of the year, investors must keep in mind that the vehicle will only be available in limited quantities. According to reports, General Motors plans to produce around 20,000 to 50,000 Bolt units next year.
