The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently awarded 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 5-Star overall rating. The 4x4 Grand Cherokee earned the highest single rating in NHTSA's vehicle-evaluation program with that five-star award.
The performance quality of 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 vehicle revealed during a series of simulations facilitated by NHTSA made it earn this success and recognition. It was able to meet the highest standard in passing safety measures on frontal collision with another vehicle, side impact with another car, and side impact with a pole. For each simulation category, it bagged the highest possible rating of five stars and earned top evaluation score.
What makes it bring home the award from NHTSA?
The vehicle features over seventy available security and safety attributes. The 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee comes with advanced multistage, driver and front-passenger air bags, advanced supplemental front-seat side air bags, driver-side inflatable knee boltser, and advanced side-curtain air bags, according to PR Newswire's blog post.
It also carries Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation design for Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system. AEB is NHTSA's preferred safety technology system and platform, but not one of the criteria for winning the award --- thus, giving the car its fourth consecutive 5-star award under NHTSA's assessment.
The Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) technology takes advantage of the camera and the radar technology, optimizing it to mitigate hazard and accident probability and impact. It also allows 2017 Grand Cherokee to perform a full stop in cases like when a forthcoming head collision gets spotted under 25 mph (40 km/h) speed considerations.
But as of this time, there has been no substantial proof or evidence about the effectiveness of AEB --- despite the agency's acknowledgement of the said technology, autoevolution reported.
For Jeep brand 4x4 vehicle type enthusiasts, 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee costs reasonable at $30,395 for the 2x4 variant and $32,695 for the 4x4 Cherokee model. The price does not cover any amount a car buyer needs to pay if they prefer the 4x4 Cherokee to be delivered to their doorsteps.
