Mobile phone batteries are becoming one of the leading problems of handheld device users. Apple launched its program to repair a small number of iPhone 6s handset that randomly shuts down without any reason.
Apple made it clear that the battery problem is not an issue of safety but is just a mere battery problem not like the Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 repair program's exploding battery. The defective batteries only affect a small number of devices which were manufactured between September and October.
Apple customers were advised to bring their handheld devices to an Apple retail store or an Authorized Apple service provider to have their handheld's serial number be checked for eligibility. If such handheld is eligible, Apple would replace the iPhone's battery for free. Those customers who had already paid for the replacement of their batteries due to the same reason, they can contact Apple for a refund.
Customers were also advised to Back-up their data, switch off the Find My iPhone and erase data on their device before returning it for battery replacement, according to ZD Net.
The international Battery replacement program followed the launch of the Apple's offer to fix iPhone 6 Plus devices affected by issues that were called as the "touch disease". The said disease is a bug that affects the screen to be unresponsive due to a drop of the handheld to a hard surface. Another issue observed in this bug is that the handheld screen display also flickers. The service to fix the said "touch disease" is valued at $149 as a repair fee, according to Computer World.
Apple also noted that if ever the iPhone 6s handset has other issues, like cracked screen or any other defects, other than the battery problem, is not eligible for the free battery replacement. Other issues must be repaired first to be eligible for the said program.
