2016 Tesla Model X vs 2016 Audi SQ7
The 2016 Tesla Model X has an electric motor front and back. It is five meters long, 2.5 ton and so luxurious inside, especially in the P90D 539 hp variant which is also devilishly fast. Tesla promises 3.9 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h and an autonomy range of 467 kilometers.
Is there a model in the galaxy able to stand up to such a powerful creation? Yes, there is. The 2016 Audi SQ7, a luxury SUV with the LaFerrari torque, according to TopGear. It is also around five meters long, 2.5 ton and with a power of 435 hp. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h it does in 4.9 seconds and reaches 1000 kilometers autonomy, which the Audi also has its electrical component: a network of 48 volts for an electric compressor. When the two turbos of its V8 diesel do not find their regime, this electric bellows gives a breath of premature pressure.
Tesla also has good ideas with their Model X. The doors are opened and closed electrically by a button and the Falcon Wings not only look spectacular but have the advantage of also opening in tight spaces. Everything has a faultless operation and never before we had upgraded to a rear seat with the ease and comfort.
The second row is independent with plenty of space around. Behind two other acceptably comfortable but more suitable for children. Front one goes below that behind the huge windshield, and the feeling of relief is amazing. This has to do also with practically absent buttons and very neat and clean cockpit. The Audi MMI advanced centralized control of the SQ7 have buttons and controls in the cockpit. Therefore, despite being a very modern model, with its Model X opponent, it looks like an old school. At first, the inside SQ7 not seem so filed, although in reality has more space, as we have measured five centimeters ahead of Model X.
The SQ7 and Model X performance are both amazing. Both pushes wildly reach speeds with surprising ease. And all without being noticed, because the noise is barely inside. Tesla brakes also surprised us, from 100 km / h, it can stop in 35.5 meters. The SQ7 meanwhile with its ceramic discs does in 36.3 meters.
But the Audi gives a lesson to Tesla on one of its strengths: the behavior. And is everything one could ask for a car, to be nimble and precise yet comfortable: the optional Advanced chassis with stabilizer electromechanical body to eliminate flipflops, toward the four wheels and differential sports on the rear axle.
The Verdict
This duel has electrified us. The Tesla Model X is a totally futuristic car that gives a new experience. But in the end, Audi SQ7 wins because it is wider, has a better performance, more autonomy and above all, it costs about $35,000 less. Not to mention that the Tesla Model X is losing its glamor with the recent 2016 Consumer Reports that shows myriad problems with its falcon doors.
Today the 2016 Audi SQ7 wins. But Tesla Model X doesn't like to be beaten though and we can expect a rebuttal with the upcoming 2017 version.
