"Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 has been getting a lot of hype lately as the phenomenal animated series has been confirmed to possibly get a winter release. Plus, Touka Kirishima will allegedly take over as the series' new lead character.
Rumors are rife that "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 will feature a different protagonist, Touka Kirishima. This is after Ken Kaneki suffered from an alleged memory loss. According to reports, the timing of Ken Kaneki's condition is perfect to pave way for Touka Kirishima. It was also speculated that the series will follow on her story to eventually bring closure to her arc.
Based on the original storyline in the manga version, Kaneki's memory loss will lead him to become a Ghoul investigator and takes on the name Haise Sasaki. As the story progresses, he will gradually regain his memories. However, since it was reported that "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 will take on a different approach, it is not expected to be adapted in the animated version.
In other news, Pierrot will allegedly hand over "Tokyo Ghouls" Season 3 to MadHouse production. This led fans to speculate that major changes are coming for the series including its production and storyline. It can be recalled that the series gained criticisms in the past for not being "faithful" to the original source. With MadHouse taking over, anime enthusiasts are hopeful that "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 will follow closely to the manga version. However, there has been no confirmation yet regarding this matter.
So far, there has been no official release date yet for "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3. Fans might have to deal with waiting a bit more before they finally see the return of their favorite series, as there's still no confirmation as to when the series will return to grace the small screens once more.
