The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica has been receiving awards and recognitions, left and right. It was recently hailed the "Best Minivan" by an online magazine. It recently received a nomination for being a "Car Of The Year" finalist.

Minivan has almost become synonymous with the Toyota Sienna. Google trends could attest that it remains to be the most searched minivan to date. Those searches though don't necessarily translate to sales.

However, the minivan pioneer has seemed to take its crown back. Chrysler created the first-ever minivan in the form of their Dodge Caravan. The former was discontinued and they went to release the Town & Country model.

It wasn't long until the Japanese minivans caught up. The Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey eventually lead the market. The Sienna's key strength lies in its performance and power. It is the only all-wheel-drive minivan to date.

But, it seems to be stuck in the past with its outdated entertainment system and interiors. This is something that Toyota needs to address, according to NY News Daily.

Minivans are targeted towards families. Most of whom have kids who are most likely glued to one electronic device or another.

Dealerships have seen families shopping "together." Most of these families have brought the kids, to help them in short-listing their choices. If the kids find that there are no iPod docks, they will be disappointed. This will somewhat influence their parent's purchasing decision.

Perhaps, Chrysler noticed this weakness from the Sienna. Their recent Pacifica came with an unmatched infotainment system in a minivan to date, according to Motor Trend. This has caught the critics attention. Chrysler's efforts for their minivan, have truly paid off.

Now, this is what Toyota should take note of. They 2018 Toyota Sienna is in dire need of an upgrade, interior wise speaking at least. To regain the minivan lead, it has to innovate if not reinvent its minivan.
