Ford has redesigned its iOS-, Android-, and tablet-compatible Mustang Customizer app for 2013.
The app allows users to design and build their own personalized fantasy Mustang. Since it was developed in late 2011, the app has been downloaded over 250,000 times; and the customizer's Facebook page has over 4.3 million likes, and frequent updates.
"Since we relaunched the online Mustang Customizer for 2013 models in June, more than 120,000 people have registered and built more than 450,000 unique fantasy Mustangs," Brian McClary, Ford digital marketing manager, said in a statement. "With the new app, fans will be able to configure their one-of-a-kind pony car any time they have a few minutes to spare."
When finished customizing their cyber Mustangs, users can enter it into a contest where it will be voted on by other users. Each car earns the user points and up to 70 badges. Users can enter "battle mode" to enter into a variety of contests against their Facebook friends and other users.
One such contest is the drift challenge, where players choose a Mustang from their garage and race it around any of nine different courses trying to beat the best times set by others.
The Mustang pictures can be saved for use as desktop wallpaper on computers, phones, and tablets or for sharing via social media.
Four of the dream Mustangs will be built by Ford, and users of the app will have a chance at winning one of them.
