According to recent "Fast 8" news, the actor who plays Dominic Toretto in the franchise, Vin Diesel, recently conveyed his thoughts to Entertainment Tonight about the latest installment as being an Oscar-worthy one. Will the muscle cars and other Japanese sports car to be featured in the film contribute to the hopeful notion of the actor?
During the interview, "Fast 8" news revealed that Vin Diesel thought the latest installment of the "Fast and the Furious" franchise could be worthy of an Oscar. According to the actor, the work of filmmaker Gray Gray was astounding this time around and that, after he missed out on "Straight Outta Compton" earning an Oscar, the iconic sports car movie's eighth installment could be his one-way ticket, according to Cinema Blend.
The actor also revealed that Toretto will have an emotional ride for the latest installment. As "Fast 8" news revealed, the character would be darker this time around mostly because of the loss that the crew experienced from "Fast 7" - the loss of Brian O'Connor, portrayed by Paul Walker.
Diesel suggested that the performance of Gray and his creativity for the latest installment had made the movie even more dramatic, a new take on the franchise itself, according to Auto Blog. In fact, Diesel said that Gray himself claimed to work for the benefit of throwing Oscars at the actor.
Despite the hopeful notion of Diesel, the source admitted that the said goal could be a long shot for the franchise when it comes to the Best Actor or the Best Film award.
In other news, Top Gear reported that Dom will ride a Dodge Ice Charger, Tej will drive a Ripsaw, and Hobbs would maneuver an Ice Ram, and Letty will drive a Rally Fighter.
"Fast 8" news revealed that the movie would release on theaters this coming Apr. 14, 2017.
