Audi sales experienced their best July ever last month.

The carmaker sold 11,707 units, a 28-percent increase over July 2011. The month represents the nineteenth in a row of record sales; contributing to a year-to-date record for 2012.

The Audi A3, with a base price of $27,270, sold 651 units last month, a 49.3-percent increase over July of last year.

The A4, base price $32,500, sold 3,449 units, a 51.7-percent increase.

The A5, with a $37,850 starting price tag, sold 1,732, a 31.9-percent increase.

The A6, $42,200, sold 1,691, a 66.8-percent increase. The model's year-to-date sales are 128 percent higher than last year's.

The crossover Q5, which runs $35,600 to start, sold 2,090 vehicles, a 10-percent increase.

The Audi Q7 crossover, $46,800, sold 891, a 12.8-percent increase.

Not all Audi models experienced increases.

The A7's 578 sales represented a decrease of 18.5 percent from July 2011. The A-7 has a starting price of $59,250.

The A8's found 10.9-percent fewer people willing to pay $72,200, selling 401 units.

The R8, which starts at $114,200, sold 58 cars, a 32.9-percent decrease.

The TT, which has a starting price of $38,300, sold 169, three less than in July 2011, for a 5.1-percent decrease.

Audi's certified pre-owned sales program had a strong month, selling 3,136 vehicles. This was the model's second-best July on record, though the company says it had less cars available for the program than in the past.

"Audi models exude emotion and innovation, and consumers are responding," Mark Del Rosso, chief operating officer of Audi of America, said in a statement. "A record July kicks off a second half that will see the brand gain even more sales momentum."
