More than four years ago, in February 2012, KIA presented us with a unique conceptual proposal, a KIA Soul sportscar called KIA Trackster, this one is an all wheel drive that can output a beastly performance of 204hp and we inevitably had to think of it when we meet the new KIA Soul 2017 and its sports version. Let's take a look back at Kia Soul's grandfather and appreciate its greatness.
The KIA Trackster was presented at the Chicago Motor Show and quickly jumped to stardom with its sportiness, flared wheel arches, and dual exhaust. It would be awesome if the new sports version of the 2017 Kia will get inspiration from its grandfather.
Awesome Design Inside And Out
The grill, identifying Kia Soul Trackster is made of carbon fiber. The same goes for the lower deflector lip, also made of carbon fiber and finished in orange, which is located in a position very close to the ground. The fins have been widened, and lower intake grid has been expanded to allow greater engine cooling.
In the concept car, the rear doors are removed while the front is now longer. Monoblock equipped high - performance tires on 19-inch tires 245/40 R19 front and 285/35 R19 rear. Large brake discs ventilated and perforated, with six-piston calipers in front and four behind complete the outdoor equipment "racing" car.
The width has been extended to 257 mm, representing an increase over the Kia Soul virtually 250 mm. The width has also increased to 1,918 mm, more than 7 from the traditional Kia Soul.
The interior was even more striking welcoming us with very sporty seats. The cabin was dyed red and white and a configuration acquired two-seater. Ushering in the rear seats are a couple of compartments for tools, helmet, fire extinguisher and a spare wheel in sight.
Powerful Mechanic
And yes, it was a car ready for tracks standard with its powerful engine. Mechanically the KIA Trackster boasted a propeller 2 liter turbocharged direct injection instead of 1.6 liters employed by the KIA Soul and can now achieve 204 hp. Besides its power, it was an all - wheel drives instead of front only. Instead of having an automatic gearbox double clutch, it has a manual six knob - speed short trips and of course new suspension and new brakes are present as well.
It's ironic how some concept cars from the past are impressive but failed to see the light for production. Hopefully, the new 2017 Kia Soul sports version will be as impressive as its grandfather.
