The first trailer of "The Grand Tour" has been released. While this causes for new excitement for fans, there is one update that is bound to disappoint them.
According to reports, the show won't be broadcast on terrestrial television. The show will come on Amazon Prime Video this November. The bad news is you won't be able to watch the show unless you have a compatible streaming device or a subscription.
Rumors suggested ITV was eager to air "The Grand Tour." Amazon apparently got lots of purchase offers since it secured the show.
But, Amazon refuses to have signed any deal. It emphatically said it would not sell the show. According to a spokesperson, the company is determined to keep exclusive rights to the show.
"We have no plans to sell rights to other broadcasters in the UK," Express.co.uk quoted the spokesperson as saying.
This means you need to sign up for Amazon Prime in order to watch the show. The basic subscription package comes for £5.99 (around $7.5), while the premium package costs £7.99 (around $10). Additionally, the annual subscription fee is £79 (around $98).
The subscription-only option makes many fans disappointed. But, at the same time, there are some other speculations. Some unconfirmed reports suggest that fans may be able to watch the Amazon show without a subscription.
Amazon has apparently signed a secret deal that will allow viewers to watch it on terrestrial television. The secret deal is in place, just in case Amazon decides to broadcast the show on other networks.
"The Grand Tour" features Richard Hammond, James May, and Jeremy Clarkson. It will premiere on November 18.
Makers of the show decided to film it in a giant tent, instead of doing it conventionally in a studio. The tent will move from one country to another. Local people will be a part of each episode.
