The new Audi RS 3 LMS race car has made a landfall at the Paris Motor Show, and not surprising, it is already making waves. Based on the RS 3 sport sedan, the RS 3 LMS will be reaching racing teams in time before the 2017 motorsport event gets underway.
Built by the Audi Sport division, the new RS 3 LMS is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 with 330 horsepower on tap. The zero to 62 mph come up in a measly 4.5 seconds and has a top speed rating of 149 mph.
Those apart, the RS 3 LMS also come with the usual complement of safety essentials such as an FIA-spec fuel tank, roll cage, and safety seat with nets, Motor Authority reported, and an escape hatch in the roof as well. Prices start at $111,000 for the club sport version while the TCR version commands a price tag of $145,000.
Fortunately for performance car enthusiasts, there is also the Dodge Challenger ADR (American Drag Racer), tests prototypes of which have already been spotted, AutoBlog mentioned. If it already smells of burning rubber than that is because the massive tires, which experts believe will help do justice to all the horses that the Hellcat powered variant will have at its disposal.
No specifics have been made available just yet though from the looks of it, those are likely to be substantially wider than what the Challenger SRT Hellcat comes riding on. For comparison's sake, the SRT Hellcat has 275 mm Pirelli P Zero Nero tires all round.
The ACR has the extreme sized tires here, with a 295 mm upfront while the one at the rear is an even wider 355 mm. The new ADR will be sitting somewhere in between those proportions and which is what is making things all the more exciting.
For the record, the ACR comes powered by a 6-liter V8 with a max power rating of 425 hp and 569 Nm of peak torque.
