Here comes a Tesla Model S adaptation that perhaps none could have been expecting. It is a Model S hearse that the Netherlands-based funeral transport company, Vander der Lans & Busscher BV has come up with.
This, as the company claimed, will also make for the most environment friendly means for the dearly departed to make its last journey to their final resting place. The company is also claiming it to be world's first and features a heavily modified Tesla Model S for the purpose, Electrek reported.
"It is a real world first. We've seen years of fully green and sustainable cars," Jan Busscher, director at Van der Lans & Busscher said.
"However, we previously step into completely electric cars but never with a range of at least 350 kilometers."
According to what funeral transport company revealed on its site, the said car has first been extensively changed for its intended role with help from stretched limousine maker, RemetzCar. The Model S was in fact cut into half starting from the 'B' pillar, all the way down to the chassis. Of course, the battery pack along with everything else was removed for the purpose.
The base of the car was extended by 80 cm before everything else was put back on again, including the all-important batteries. Everything starting from the 'B' pillar onwards has also been removed to create space where the coffin would be accommodated.
So gone are the rear passenger doors or the sloping rear boot lid. Instead, those have been replaced mostly with glass to makes for a large viewing area where others will have a view of the coffin inside.
Van der Lans & Busscher director is claiming a range of at least 350 kms but hasn't shared how the makeover is going to change the Model S driving parameters.
We have earlier seen the Model X being subjected to various customization jobs with the Will.i.am's custom Tesla Model S perhaps being the most outrageous of them all.
