Jeremy Clarkson standing on the edge of the white cliffs bidding adieu to a swarm of drones carrying Amazon shipments across the vast expanses of the English Channel against a clear blue sky is indeed a sight to behold. In fact, it has that sort of timeless appeal to it that has often been associated with many things that has to do with Clarkson.
Of course, we might well get to see more of such stuff in the days to come now that the car presenter, as Auto Evolution mentioned has just been hired by Amazon. But it sure has given us a hint Amazon's Prime Air is a step or two closer to becoming a reality after all. The online retailer has been pushing really hard to have its shipments delivered via drones which, apart from ensuring speedy deliveries, will also add to their appeal as well.
Clarkson, meanwhile, is busy shooting for the upcoming weekly show The Grand Tour, which is slated to go on air starting November 18, with a new episode every Friday for the next 12 weeks. Amazon has already promised it is going to be a grand tour in the truest sense of the term, with each episode being shot in a different country.
Clarkson has also come up with another video that provides us with a glimpse of what's going on behind the scenes of the mega car show that seems to have left the master presenter mesmerized with the scale of operations.
"If you want to fight a small war, control an aircraft carrier or fly a spaceship, you do it all from in here," is how Clarkson chose to introduce the area in the video, The Week reported.
That is followed by a friendly banter that seems to reach its climax when Clarkson asks the director for a rehearsal. The proposal gets shot down promptly with the director justified saying they have run out of money.
Amazon had earlier allocated a princely £160 million budget for the show that also stars Richard Hammond and James May besides Clarkson. The first leg of the show will take them to California with Johannesburg likely to be the second stop for The Grand Tour team.
