Rumors have been flying around that Nissan has been trying to create a truck-based Nissan SUV which will be a replacement of the phased-out Nissan Xterra. The said model was to be designed with a hint of Navara features but will remain an SUV. Will it be available for purchase soon?
Nissan Xterra Successor?
Fans of the brand Nissan were dismayed when the Xterra was announced to be out of the market by 2015. The model was said to be a truck-based design SUV which was favored due to its off-road features and Frontier-like body for fifteen long years. Despite the cancellation of one model, Nissan was said to be creating a brand new truck-based SUV at present and may be available for purchase by next year, reported Jalopnik.
The report indicated that specs for the new Nissan truck-based SUV may have been revealed through spy shots along with its details. Although no reports confirmed that the said model was the upcoming truck-based SUV, its features were common to that on the Nissan Navara truck. Furthermore, it was also revealed that it may be available for purchase in the US soon.
New Truck-Based SUV Similar to Nissan Frontier?
In other news, Auto Blog reported that the SUV based on the Nissan Navara model would also be similar to that of the Nissan Frontier. In fact, the front of the model was similar to that of the Navara model with a central dam air intake that goes towards the bottom part. It also had a grille design that had two large bars which form a V-shape similar to the Navara version.
With respect to its interior, it was said that the Nissan truck-based SUV may be able to seat five to seven passengers like the Nissan Navara, would be powered by a 2.3-liter turbocharged diesel engine or a 2.3-liter twin turbo and 2.5-liter gasoline engine.
The said Nissan truck-based SUV in the making is rumored to be featured next year and may be available for purchase in Asian, European, and Australian auto markets.
