Mercedes-Benz Recalls Sprinter Van Due To Window Irregularity

The German automaker is recalling one of its vehicles, the Sprinter Van, as the company found out that the material for its window might be compromised. The bonding material between the multi-layered paintwork securing the window "may not conform to adhesion specifications," the German automaker said.

This factory weakness may potentially result in window detachment posing a high risk to the occupant should a collision occur. There is a specific Sprinter that's on Mercedes' list, including 16 units from Australia.

The recent recall is the fourth issued by the company in two weeks, with its Vito Van and C200d among them. The said vehicles had similar issues regarding a high-pressure fuel line that may not have been correctly manufactured. The defect is likely to cause fuel leakage and pose hazards to drivers and other motorists

The Mercedes AMG was also called back a week after the Vito Van and C200d incident over concerns that the vehicle's front spoiler could detach due to incorrect attachment. As for affected Sprinter Van owners, they should expect a reach-out from the company soon or take the initiative and contact local dealers near their area.

While all of these small headaches are sprouting everywhere, Mercedes-Benz is hard at work to catch-up with Tesla. Reports are making its rounds that the German auto manufacturer is making six new battery-electric automobiles, including SUVs, sedans, and compact cars.

Apparently, Tesla is threatening Mercedes-Benz's position in the market when it comes to advance car tech and electric cars in general. But Mercedes-Benz isn't the only one that's scrambling to keep up with the Silicon-Valley start-up.

Audi and BMW are also looking to take away sales from Tesla as both manufacturers are respectively working on a battery-powered car of their own.

Mercedes-Benz certainly got their hands full with all these little fires popping left and right. So far there are no accident reports that are coming in regarding the Sprinter Van recall.
