With the Paris Car Show only a month away, automakers are hard at work in polishing products they wish to unveil. Among those that are behind the curtain is Audi's A5 Sedan and S5 Sportback.
Under the hood of the second-generation A5 sits a gasoline and diesel engine with four-wheel drive options. The S5, on the other hand, has an impressive new V6 turbocharged gasoline engine capable of delivering 340 hp and can send it rushing down the highway from zero to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds.
Aside from the engine and the pleasing aesthetics that the cars boast, Audi is also highlighting the tech advances that the A5 possess. The vehicle has a high-end connectivity and driver assistance with adaptive cruise control, as well as the capability of assisting the driver during traffic jams.
To expand on the last feature, the A5 is able to take the wheel off the driver when stuck in slow-moving traffic assuming the tasks of braking and accelerating based on what the current situation demands.
It does this by collecting data in real-time through the help of front camera and radar sensors, which the system then computes to recommend a driving lane all done within a fraction of second. The system also has a collision avoidance tech that drives around an obstacle reducing the risk of accidents.
Other assistance features are turn assist, park assist, cross traffic assist rear, exit warning, camer-based traffic sign recognition, Audi active lane assists, and Audi side assists.
The price for the A5 kicks off at $42,570, while the S5 will be set on $70,200. As of now, it's uncertain whether or not the A5 will be available in the US market. Audi is also remaining quiet on whether hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or electric version of the cars are available, though the German automaker will possibly reveal further information during the unveiling.
