Motor Authority has stated that, at year's end, the United States is once again Bentley's top buying market, having regained the ground lost to China earlier this year.
Though Bentley's US sales grew by 40 percent in the first quarter of 2012, the nation's 450 units sold were still less than China's 578.
At the time, Bentley CEO Christophe Georges was quoted as saying that he did not expect China's lead to last long. He cited the release of a new model, the Mulsanne Mulliner, and the opening of new Bentley dealerships in Nashville, Tennessee; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Thousand Oaks, California as probable stimuli to US sales.
The industry website puts worldwide sales as up 32 percent. In the first half of the year, US sales rose 25.7 percent to 1,140 vehicles; while Chinese sales rose 55.7 percent to 1,059.
