19 BMW i8, all in the same color Protonic Blue was given by Thai billionaire Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha to his football players of Leicester City after making a history in the English Football League. BMW i8 costs around $120000 each therefore, totalling the cost of all 19 to more than $2.2million.
Last season the humble British team Leicester City, whose main objective was just to stay one more year in the top flight of the English football league, won the title of champion of the Premier League for the first time in its history. They broke all odds and in return was given the BMW i8. All 19 in blue as it is the teams color.
Srivaddhanaprabha decided to acquire each and every one of the 19 BMW i8 in identical color so that the players will be proud of their team's color and also, so that there would be no discussion on who gets what color. However, this may not seem like a good decision as team member's are now complaining of having difficulty differentiating their cars to the other team members, citing that if they park their cars during trainings, they have difficulty of getting back to their own cars, forcing them to change the colors of their BMW i8.
Players like Wes Morgan, Jeffrey Schlupp, Riyad Mahrez and Danny Simpson have decided to take their BMW i8 to the shop and paint it with a different color or order car wraps and let the changes be made. These four players have taken their cars to the facilities of former footballer Marlon Harewood, who has a place of preparation and customizing cars in Nottingham.
The said decision draws a buzz on the social media world. Others saw it as a very funny situation as they can imagine 19 BMW i8 parked in the same parking lot and having the difficulty of choosing the right car you own.
Some raised their eyebrows saying that the members should just be thankful. "If I'll have free one if I promise not to change the colour" said one netizens.
"Would have been better getting their own plates fitted instead. They will retain the color of the club and can differentiate theirs, at a fraction of the cost too." Another netizen said.
