The new rumor from Apple’s suppliers in Taiwan suggested that the Cupertino-based company will reveal its new generation of iPhone, commonly referred to as iPhone 5, in August. This date will be couple of months ahead of schedule, reported China Economic Review.
After Apple announced the fall release of iOS 6 at the Worldwide Developers Conference 2012, rumors have added that iPhone 5 will be launched about the same time. Considering that the iPhone 4S was launched in October of last year, people expected the iPhone 5 to be available in the market this October.
However, new rumors are suggesting that Apple is in hurry to launch the new product soon to keep its competitors away. Samsung has already launched Galaxy S3 and Google is also attempting to launch Nexus.
Sina.com, a Chinese website, has also stated that Apple requested its suppliers in Taiwan to expedite the shipping of iPhone components, adding more rumors of early launch.
J.P. Morgan analyst Mark Moskowitz has commented to CNET that Apple’s sale is expected to decline in third quarter, suggesting Apple should launch the next iPhone 5 in September.
According to rumors, iPhone 5 is to have ditched its 3.5-inch screen with 4:3 ratio design, which the company kept since the original iPhone until now. The new iPhone is to have 4.0-inch screen with 16:9 ratio.
Apple’s new mobile operating system, iOS 6, is also expected to power iPhone 5. It will come with Apple’s own Maps instead of Google Maps as the default mapping service. The Maps will have a 3D viewing and turn-by-turn navigation. The new iOS to have upgraded its Siri voice function and have integrated with third party systems such as Yelp “check-in” and Facebook.
Based on Apple’s recent patent, some suggested that camera lenses will be replaceable. The charging dock is also rumored to be smaller.
Could we really see iPhone 5 in August, only 10 months after releasing its last model? Or is Apple going to see Samsung and Google take all the electronic consumers while waiting to debut its next iPhone?
