General Motors will recall more than 475,000 Chevrolet Cruze cars in U.S., Canada and Israel to fix a technical snag which could lead to engine fires.
The official announcement was been made by the automaker as a precautionary to measure to avoid any potentially fatal issues in the future.
"The most important thing for our customers to know is that we are proactively working to assure the Cruz is the safe and durable car they purchased," Vice President of Global Quality for General Motors, Alicia Boler-Davis, said in a press release.. "We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by these actions."
General Motors will check the default vehicles for a possible welding problem, which could have affected the fuel tank and real floor.
"There are no known crashes, injuries or fatalities related to either recall. In regulatory filings that it is aware of about 30 fires, mostly traced to improper oil change procedures and parts," reads an official press release by GM.
GM makes a statement that the recall will affect all the vehicles built at GM's Lordstown, Ohio plant from Sept. 2010 through May 2012. The company also stresses that the technical problem will be fixed without charging any additional service charges.
