Hilton and Ritz-Carlton Hotels will be putting charging stations to caters the customers who drive electric cars. The latter follows the trend of the big hotel chains to expand their business capabilities.
According to DNA India, Marriott and Hilton hotels started the program months ago. The trend of electric cars has continued to have high supply and demand these past few months.
Those who would like to check in at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel branches across the United States will have access to stations that can charge their cars for the next 150 miles (241 km) or two and a half hours. On the other hand, the service will be limited to the international branches.
Hilton decided to put up charging stations last year. And now, they are planning to put 100 more charging stations as part of the expansion before 2016 ends.
Meanwhile, Marriott has already more than 250 charging stations across the world. The executives are yet to make an announcement regarding a possible expansion.
Based on the US citing statistics from InsideEVs Monthly Scorecard, the sales of the electric cars have skyrocketed up to 350,000 units. The peak was 2014, wherein 120,000 units of electric cars were sold.
In other news, the electric car charging companies are calling out Volkswagen for independent oversight of the $2 billion Volkswagen AG.
Reuters reported that the German automaker agreed to invest $1.2 B for providing diesel vehicles with a software that can cheat tailpipe emission tests.
The companies- which consist of ChargePoint, EV Connect, and Electric Vehicle Charging Association believe that the money might be a "game changer" but they are worried that the amount could be "misspent."
"The agreement shouldn't pick winners and losers, especially given that this emerging market transition will in no small part define 21st-century transportation," reads the letter sent to the U.S. Justice Department on Friday.
"The program should be structured to benefit drivers in California and across the nation, not enable the settling defendants to enter or influence the markets for (zero emission vehicle) charging and fueling equipment and services."
Volkswagen is yet to issue a statement to answer the electric car companies.
