Rap-icon, producer and entrepreneur Dr. Dre, was cleared of charges after an alleged "gun brandishing" incident which took place outside his Malibu residence last Monday, July 15. He was accused of pointing a gun at a man blocking his driveway.
Local police said that they had responded to the complaint by searching the music producer's home at around 11:15 am on Monday. Dr. Dre or Andre Young was said to have aimed his gun at a man whose car stopped on Pacific Coast Highway which is just near to the musician's home.
According to Dr. Dre, the man was blocking his driveway and that he just asked him to leave. The man heeds his orders and drove away and then returned and parked in the same direction. Due to these rude acts and driver's disregard for Dre's orders, Dre then drew out his phone to record the man, however the unidentified driver drove away immediately.
In the search conducted by the authorities, no weapon was found in Young's Malibu home despite the complaints filed by the driver. Despite not being arrested nor taken into custody, Dr. Dre was handcuffed and made to stay inside a patrol car while the search was conducted. He also received a citation from the police.
Dr. Dre made it into the headlines earlier when he released Compton, his third solo album. This work by Doc was inspired by biopic Straight Outta Compton, an Academy Award-nominated film that tells the story of the Compton-based hip hop group N.W.A.
According to Forbes, Dre is one of the biggest earners in the world of hip-hop. He topped their charts with his net worth around $710 million, which takes into account Apple's purchase of Beats Electronics and Beats Music. These two companies were founded by Dr. Dre along with Interscope-Geffen-A&M chairman Jimmy Iovine in 2014.
