Director John Carney, who worked with actress Keira Knightley on the 2013 film "Begin Again," has criticized the actress regarding her acting skills and he pointed out that he will never want to work with her again.

Carney was interviewed by the Independent newspaper and he shared that he will never make a film "with supermodels again." Knightley played the role of a songwriter who was dumped by her musician boyfriend, who was played by Adam Levine. She then makes new music with Mark Ruffalo's character in the flick, Business Standard reported.

During the interview, Carney pointed out that he had fun working with Ruffalo and Levine. He shared that Ruffalo is a fantastic actor while Levine was unpretentious and was quite scared of exposing himself on camera but was able to explore who he is an individual.

He continued to say that to be an actor, one needs to nod be afraid to find out who you really are. He added, "Keira's thing is to hide who you are and I don't think you can be an actor and do that."

Aside from her acting skills, Carney's problem was Knightley's entourage. He noted that her staff made it difficult to get work done because they followed her around everywhere, Hollywood Life reported. He also said that he does not want to "rubbish Keira" but it is difficult to be a film actor as it requires a certain level of honest and self-analysis and he believes that the actress is not ready for that yet.

Since Carney's statements surfaced, two Hollywood directors have released statement voicing their support for Knightley. The New York Daily News reported that Mark Romanek, who directed Knightley in "Never Let Me Go," blasted Carney calling him an "arrogant sh**head."

Director Lorene Scafaria also said that directing Knightley on the 2012 film "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World" was nothing but lovely. She added that Knightley was a joy to work with and is really good at her job.

Knightley has not yet commented on the matter.
