Skeptical analyst Anton Wahlman recently found something suspicious about Tesla's online order form. Some did not follow the 2-preorder limit and were able to place more than two reservations for the Tesla Model 3 sedans.
The Telsa Model 3 sedan seems to be heading upward, not to mention the more than 400,000 pre-orders of them. If all of those reservations translates into sales, Model 3 would outdo its common rivals in the car industry.
But some skeptics think the huge number of pre-orders Tesla reported may create a false impression. On Friday, Wahlman tested Tesla's online order form and successfully place multiple reservations for the Model 3, apparently breaking the limit of 2 reservation per customer set by the company. He simply submitted multiple reservations on separate forms. This appears to be a solid case as Yahoo! Finance discovered the same thing. They were able to place more reservation and exceeding the 2 per customer reservation limit.
According to Wahlman, recent discovery of the preordering activity suggests that the some of the 400,000 refundable deposits on the Tesla Model 3 may not have come from potential buyers. Some of it could have been done by speculators, thus pumping up the number of reservations for the Tesla Model 3 sedan. Some skeptics feel that the huge number of reservations may be misleading.
Elon Musk was quick to respond to remove the doubts and fear of everyone. He reassured everyone that the result of a system scan indicated only 0.2 percent of orders breaking the 2-preorder limit, and those reservations would be canceled.
According to Fortune, Wahlman's finding proves the possibility of breaking the reservation policy of 2 per customer for the Tesla Model 3. Some may be reserving multiple Model 3's that will never be purchased, blowing up the number of reservations.
