According to an article posted Detroit Free Press website, A memorial celebration for Harold Poling, the former CEO of Ford, will be June 13 at The Henry Ford.
Poling died May 12 at age 86 at his home in Pacific Grove, Calif. He is survived by Marian, his wife of 55 years, as well as daughters Pam and Kathryn and son Doug.
The Troy, Michigan native known as "Red" started as an intern in the Rouge steel mill in the summer of 1950. He rose to become chairman and CEO by the end of his 43-year career that included a turnaround of the company's fortunes in the 1980s and 1990s. Poling became CEO in 1990, served until 1993 and retired in 1994.
More than 150 guests already registered to attend the memorial, which is open to the public. Registration is required and can be done at www.redpoling.org. The deadline to register is Thursday, June 7 and may already be closed.
The event will include remarks by family and guest speakers. There will be a one-time display of photos and memorabilia at the museum and a video documentary of Poling's life.
